Donato Piccolo a Paolo Maria Deanesi Gallery di Rovereto (TN)

BUTTERFLY EFFECT
una mostra personale di
Donato Piccolo

BUTTERFLY EFFECT
a solo show of work by
Donato Piccolo

According to the theory of  Edward Lorenz, a famous mathmetician who was one of the founders of modern meteorology and a pioneer in the chaos theory, a tiny action can determine a series of external chain reactions to the point of generating a large phenomenon or a catastrophe. Even the simple flapping of a butterfy's wings can start the moments of air molecules that then can later cause a sequence of movements of other molecules until a hurricane is triggered.

In Butterfly Effect, the first solo show by the artist at Paolo Maria Deanesi Gallery in Rovereto, Donato Piccolo uses technological and mechanical instruments to explore - according to a practice that puts him on an international art level - natural, physical and biological  phenomena and the cognitive activity that perceives for human beings in order to stimulate emotions and reflections that are found at an imagined edge that divides or unites art and science. It is the theory of catastrophe that might make sense. It is the disorder or an apparently accidental event that finds its order and an end that justifies the reasons behind our sensorial perceptions and reactions, including emotions.

In Chiusura La Fotografia della Collezione Trevisan al MART di Rovereto (TN)

Gordon Parks, American Gothic, 1942

CON GLI OCCHI, CON IL CUORE, CON LA TESTA
La fotografia della collezione Trevisan

a cura di
Walter Guadagnini

WITH THE EYES, THE HEART AND THE MIND
Photography from the Trevisan collection

curated by
Walter Guadagnini
with Veronica Caciolli and Francesco Zanot

What have Ferdinando Brosy’s daguerrotypes of 1846 in common with Gregory Crewdson’s photographs taken 160 years later? They have attracted the attention of Mario Trevisan and thus entered his collection. From 24 July to 9 September 2012, this wide-ranging, exciting collection of photographs is visible in an exhibition to be held at the Mart di Rovereto called “With the eyes, the heart and the mind. Photographs from the Trevisan collection”, curated by Walter Guadagnini with Veronica Caciolli.

Alice in Wonderland

a cura di
Christoph Benjamin Schulz e Gavin Delahunty
con l’assistenza di Eleanor Clayton

mostra
25 febbraio - 3 giugno

#0485 San Luis, San Luis, RA. 2007 (dettaglio). 180 x 230 cm, C-print Plexiglass. Collezione privata

"San Luis"
una mostra personale di Carlo Valsecchi

a cura di
Gabriella Belli

# 0330 San Luis, San Luis, RA. 2007, C-Print, 180 x 230 cm. Collezione privata, Italia

"San Luis"
a solo show of work by Carlo Valsecchi

curated by
Gabriella Belli

presents 36 large photographic works taken between 2007 and 2008 in some of the most remote places in Argentina.

# 0511 San Luis, San Luis, RA. 2007. C-Print, 180 x 230 cm. Private collection, Italy

Carlo Valsecchi (Brescia 1965), among the most important Italian photographers, conceived of this series as " a sort of Land Art": the actual photographic shots were the arrival point of intense research and analysis of signs, traces and miminal movements generated from the passage of humans and animals in a remote territory.

In "San Luis", there are ploughed fields and open spaces that have never been touched by the human hand; straight stretches of road or very long irrigation canals. In all cases, Valsecchi demonstrates how he wants to explore the relationships between mental and physical space. This is a central theme of the artist's research and also found in works with subjects being industrial and architectural/urban scenes.
